Sound man Jim Gibbons of AVS made a doorstep delivery in the middle of a snow storm for our afterparty at Sava’s. No pics from the party, but F.O.K.U.S. CRU came out in full force. Hands down my favorite crowd and venue to spin for. Felt just like a GREEN LIGHT affair.

CSF once again delivers the goods with their new single/video “Get No Better.”
Hearing 4 MCs go back’n'forth like this reminds me of Souls of Mischief’s classic 93 til Infinity.
But this isn’t a revivalist ‘our-best-true-school-impression’ song. “Get No Better” sounds unique to 2012, and is a sign of great things to come.
CSF’s debut album, Detroit Revolution(s), is scheduled to drop in March.

We’ve had an incredible series of guest artists come through over the years, so it was only right to close out with some of our Alumni and a few new faces.
Also much love and appreciation to the whole F.O.K.U.S. CRU, especially Bdubs, Dom, Miss Lady Soul, Nina & CiCi, for bringing their flavor to the show each week. The dedication and support has been amazing over the years.

June 14th, 2011On June 12th Gameboi returned to F.O.K.U.S. Radio to promote his new EP Freshman Of The Year. To celebrate the occasion, F.O.K.U.S. CRU member Julian Allen (Drums) assembled a live band featuring Marcus Elliot (Electronic Wind Instrument), Ben Rolston (Bass), & Alex Levine (Guitar).
The resulting live session was nothing short of fantastic. Watch Gameboi spit some writtens and trade freestyles with Lady Bugg over vintage DILLA:
We also got to debut “Runnin Around” feat. L05 and talk with Gameboi about the making of FOTY, writing rhymes in class, etc:

Spring ‘11 Video Round Up

Vanguards 2011 -- Erica Hernandez. This is E’s recap of F.O.K.U.S.’ 7th annual Vanguards. This clip really captures the spirit of Vanguards and has some real creative editing as well. Check out Erica’s videos for GREEN LIGHT, Mae Day, and more HERE
